Afan Forest Park Visitor Centre is part of the Valleys Regional Park twelve Discover Gateway sites across South Wales.

Valleys Regional Park champions the iconic landscape and people of the South Wales Valleys, working with partners to maximise the environment and social benefits for local communities and future generations

Discovery Gateways are your launchpads into the landscape and heritage that make up The Valleys story. They are places where you can get out and about, have fun, explore the landscape and find out more about nature. We’ve called them Discovery Gateways because each one is a great place to start discovering the local area.

The South Wales Valleys’ landscape offers breath taking views and exhilarating experiences such as walking, cycling, mountain biking and outdoor pursuits. The landscapes which were once transformed by industry have now been reclaimed by nature.

At Afan Forest Park, one of the world’s most established mountain biking destinations, Valleys Regional Park has helped us to diversify what we offer our visitors. At Afan Forest Park Visitor Centre you will find new facilities including an adventure play area suitable for ages 5-11, new interpretation within the visitor centre, refurbished public toilets and shower facilities, additional car parking, a new EV Charging point and new lighting along pathways. Works onsite to deliver these improvements is currently ongoing but will be complete very soon.

There is plenty to keep you occupied across all of the Valleys Regional Park Gateway sites, so why not plan your next break in the South Wales Valleys. More details on all of the Valleys Regional Park Gateway Sites can be found below.
